We need some imaginative stimulus, some not possible ideal such as may shape vague hope, and transform it into effective desire, to carry us year after year, without disgust, through the routine work which is so large a part of life. -- Marius the Epicurean Under the direction of our esteemed administration and faculty, we the students of the 1963 graduating class have received a liberal education that has prepared us to be fine Catholic American women. Those who have directed us in our respective academic careers have in- deed given us stimuli in the form of drive -- drive to achieve to the fullest of our capacities. They have given us hope -- hope in the future and the discovery of new gems of knowledge that it may hold; faith too, -- faith in ourselves, in our fellow men, and in the very essence of life itself. And charity -- charity extending to all creatures created in his image. Then too, they have cultivated in us an appreciation of culture in the forms of music, literature, art and philosophy. Through their example, we have come to understand the real meaning of life. In this materialistic world they have shown us the worth-while things to strive toward. They have made us acutely aware of our womanhood and its place in the world today. We are better prepared to follow the dictates of our God, our country and our superi- ors because we have been shown by them the virtue of complete obedience. We are grateful to you, our administration and faculty for making us what we are today -- spiritually, academically, morally and socially mature. Be- cause of the steadfast inspiration of our faculty the words of that immortal teacher, Plato, so aptly apply: Those having torches will pass them on to others. 10
