F RESHMEN INITIATIUN To a freshman, the first few months of high school are sometimes very bewildering, but a friend and a smile help the days to pass. Each year the halls of Villa become charged with the ex- citement of freshmen in- itiation. As the day ap- proaches, letters, laughter, and whispered secrets are ex- changed between seniors and their little freshies . On October 26, 1979, the seniors finally revealed their secret natures to their fresh- men and dressed them to the theme of the pink panther. The next evening climaxed with the banquet and friend- ships and memories to be cherished for a lifetime. F Q r-1 5 . . ' Top: Maria Chmielewski, Kim Lennert, Kathleen Bukolt. The language clubs were organized to help students learn more about the people behind the language and experience their way of life. The French Club, under the direction of Madame Fleuridas, has delved into the culture of France, especially the French cuisine. Members have par- ticipated in everything from flipping crepes to making home made Christmas cards for the facul- ty. Their excitement carried through to an afternoon Liturgy which the girls shared. In the evening, they enjoyed a tantalizing buffet dinner in the social hall. Afterwards, the juniors entertained their guests with singing, dancing, and other delights. Yfgiu' A lm ... nf it ' 5 166 The creation of a yearbook is a long and tedious process. Many hours are spent on plans, decisions, and paperwork. A yearbook staff is a special group of people who, working together, try to encapsule the events of a school year. There must be a harmony and friendship between them that is strong enough to withstand the setbacks and rejoice in the accomplishments. The financial staff, led by Sister Vivian, organized the collection of patrons necessary to finance the operations of a yearbook. With the experience and guidance of Sister Aurelian, Sister Amelia, and Sister Barbara, the staff began their attempt to capture the spirit of Villa. The finished product is a legacy of memories to be cherished for a lifetime. Our high school days are now behind us. What we have attempted is to capture that fleeting element, time, within the confines of a book. We dedicate our work to the past in thank- fulness that Cod had destined the foundation of our pathway in life to be laid in the experience of Villa. lust as the sun rises each day, so shall there always be new paths ahead for us to conquer. But as we glance behind us, the 1980 Vilmarian will serve as a testimony - our footprint in the past.
