It is twenty years since Ros Maris first ap- peared, eventful years in which the Villa and Ros Maris alike have witnessed many changes and made much progress. Twenty years is but a moment in the great span of time, but for youth it is a long, long period, nearly a quarter of a century. It has been long enough, at least, for even the name Ros Maris to be- come traditional rather than significant, until today even those who love her most have but a vague idea of the symbolism, the beauty that the title stood for in the minds of those who chose it. Hence it is that we reprint in Ros Maris, '44, the Foreword that appeared in Ros Maris, '24. Ros Maris - Dew of the Sea, Bearer of Memories dear. Laden with fragrance of radiant past, And glowing with promise of future bright. Go forth on your mission of love. May your sparkling iridescent drops Scatter sunshine everywhere And flood each weary spirit With the joy of what has been And what is yet to be. Awaken in hearts grown old The echoes of a care-free youth, Echoes of love, of hope, of faith, Of confidence in God, and trust in humanity. Go forth in all courageousness And guard our every way.
