The determined team of Newman rolled V,G, 13-6. Don Payton scored the VAR ITY FUUTBALL CURE GROVERS WIN OPENER 45-13 The Villa Grove Blue Devils fought hard against a fine Unity eleven and defeat- ed them. John Greger and Don Payton each scored three touchdowns and an extra point making a total of 19 points each and Jerry Lewis scored an extra point. Fred Spurlin also got a touchdown. V. G. UPSETS GIBSON CITY This was a rough and tumble game which caused two V, G, injuries. Pat Madigan broke a vertibrae and John Greger broke his thumb. Payton scored two touchdowns and John Greger made an extra point to wrap up the victory 13-0. V,G, WINS AGAIN Grovers roll Paris 13-7 to make Homecoming activities a success. It was one of the toughest games of the season. Jerry Lewis made a T. D. and Don Payton scored 7 points. V,G, DOWNS MONTICELLO 49-6 Don Payton broke two conference records in this game by scoring 42. points and gaining 315 yards. John Greger made the other Grovers T,D, and Keith Melton scored the extra point. VILLA GROVE DEFEATS SULLIVAN 26-7 V,G, downed a strong Sullivan team Z6-7. Jerry Lewis scored one touchdown, John Greger 8 points, and Payton scored 12 points. DEVILS UPSET TUSCOLA 45-7 Blue Devils wrecked Warriors homecoming in good fashion. Don Payton scored 37 points and Dave Hettinger scored the other T, D, V,G, DEFEATS OAKLAND 19-0 We won't talk about this one! ! ! BLUE DEVILS ROLLED BY ATWOOD The Grovers winning streak was broken by the hard hitting Atwood eleven by a defeat of 28-7. V,G, was without the aid of Don Payton, Pat Madigan, Keith Hunt, and Fred Spurlin, GROVERS UPSET only T, D, give him 135 points for the season.
