THE SODALITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY .W AD .IESUM PER MARIAM September October Novem ber Derember January February ACTIVITIES The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary began its year officially at the re-opening of the school year in September 1954. The Sodality offered Mass and communion in honor of the Blessed Mother every first Thursday of the month. Two meetings were held each month. We had 10092 attendance in the Sodality Union Meetings in the Diocese of Los Angeles. 1955 SODA LITY CALENDAR By the third week of the month of September elections of officers were held. The Sodality Ball was one of the main events for the month of October. Representatives attended the Ball at Pasadena Pacific Auditorium. With thc cooperation of the members. the Sodality pre- sented the traditional basket of canned goods to a poor family in the county of Los Angeles. At long: last the date of entering the Sodality. the most anticipated event arrived for the new members. On this date, the 8th of December, the closing of the Marian Year, the new Sodalists received the medal and mantle of the Blessed Virgin. With the cooperation from the Faculty. Student Body. and Sodality. the closing of the Marian Year was the greatest event of the year. By the 8th of January the Sodality attended the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered by His Excellency Timothy Manning at St, Yibiana's Cathedral. For Yalentine's Day. the Sodality offered the Blessed Xirgin Mary a Mass and communion in her honor. llarch April llay June Each girl presented a beautiful red and white rose at her altar. Once again the Sodality attended the Forum. Linda Dwyer and Cecilia Bellhouse were our speakers on a panel. For the 3rd of April. we attended location Week at Immaculate Heart College. For Easter the Sodality prepared baskets for the children at General llospilal. The baskets contained candies. eggs. and little toy. which the children liked wry much. The month of the Blessed Yirgin has finally arrived, Each day during the month of May, the Sodalists recited the rosary in honor of Our Blessed Lady. For the 31st of this month. the Blessed Virgin Mary was crowned by one of the Seniors. This nas a great event for the Sodality. Each Sotlalist has an opportunity to carry flowers to Our Lady. The annual outing of the Sodality was wry successful. We spent Ascension Day at Griffith Park. By the end of the school year, the Sodality offered Our Lady a Mass and communion which closed very successfully the school year.
