Well balanced programs are provided by the Music Department for pupils who work toward a profession in music or toward music as an avocation, and offers the pleasure of ac- tive participation to all those who enjoy good music. MRS. BEVERLY HAGEN Cincinnati Conservatory, B.M IEH , MR. TONY E. GONDOLEI Syracuse College, M.M. Band is an elective subject. It is open to all those who have sufficient interest. However, there is no room for those who merely wish to get credit or those who are not interested enough to do the required amount of work to keep up with the group. Every boy or girl who enters the band should resolve to practice enough to become pro- ficient on his or her instrument. In band students receive training for: Q15 a hobby that he can follow and enjoy the rest of his lifeg or Q2j the foundation for a professional Loyola University, B.M. career in music. Any students can study piano. Piano can be learned for one's own amusement or studied with the idea of making it one's career.
