the first act with two girls hav1ng those 1n1t1a1s and both Clalmlng the t1t1e As the houselights go out and the second curtaln r1ses there 1S an astound1ng change of set In the fourth year of school life of the already dlminished class, they are found in the cellar of the large brick structure known to them as the 'big building The l1ving con d1t1OnS are terrible and yet a satlsfied 'cat that swallowed the canary smark covers the happy little faces Maybe no school after all fif the U S Government dec1des to build a new build1ngj is the general whlsper and thought Yes, the new building was erected, but school ccntlnued too F1ve days a week, the loyal, intent on education youngsters carry the1r books and small electrlc heaters to the third floor of the Pal Theatre bullding Here many tr1als and trlbulatlons come and go, but a perpetual state of w1ld confus1on results when a hu orous L1ttle charac ter, wear1ng horn r1mmed glasses and clad 1n knlokers wh1ch were never buckled at the knees enters the class No actor on earth could have played that part but Earl Watklns And who could forget the wild romp1ng tomboy, Mark Mathews, who amused h1mself when he didn't have a broken limb by stlcking pins in Mary Brewton Time speeds on and the industrious group is found 1n a new 1n his pocket At thls polnt a clamor is heard off stage, and Evelyn McIntyre, who couldn't stay away any longer, enters for the second t1me, only to ex1t and come back again at a later pclnt Georgia h1story at tacks 1ts v1ct1ms made interest1ng by Hylan K1rkland's return and Margie Wilkes, a blonde, green eyed belle from Almwell, who 18 the new added attract1on The play has a good plot but often the un1ty 1S broken when the sets continually change Now half the cast 1S sent down to the basement, where fun res1des because Bobby McArthur flnds out it is more thrilllng to go out the w1ndow than the door The curtain falls on a r1ot as everybody joins h1m and the bewlldered Miss Mallory struggles to restore law and order The third act curtain comes up on the same cast, although scarcely recogn1zable because they're sl1ghtly aged, w1ser, and a b1t of soph1stlcat1on 18 added to the1r ego They are in high school now know lt all and are hard to teach This, however, doesn't last long! It takes only a few days for the antagonizing rea11zat1on of the1r dumb ness to come to them and thenmaybe we ain't so smart after alln expres sions to appear Agnes Nelson, making her first entrance, makes all eyes turn green with envy There is, however, no cause for Jealously when the news gets around that Agnes flunked the second grade Time marches on, and the gallant sophs are snootlng the fresh men, working hard, and playlng hard when the attractlon of attractlons jumps forth with one loud guffaw That is only a mald way of introduc1ng 13 on . 0 s - - - - -- gg building which is decorated by the red bandana Melvin Page always carries
