After many days of play practice, set building, band practice and dancing lessons the musical Annie Get Your Gun was performed at the Robinson Grand Theatre. Much hard work was put into the project by not only Victory students, but by Mr. jerry McKeen, who served as Technical Director, and Mr. Sam DeMaria, who was Band Director. 55 Victory’s Dave Drummond boots the opening kick-off to ignite Homecoming 1972. HOMECOMING ’72 On October 14, 1972, the Victory High School's football squad invaded the field for the sixty-third and final Homecoming game. The Eagles, who were down 28 to 6, came back with full steam only to fall short 28 to 24. At half-time five young ladies anxiously awaited the start of the Homecoming activities. The first to be announced was the Sophomore Princess, Cindy Barberio . Next, Marla Lada took her place as Junior Princess. Now, three remaining Seniors nervously awaited - knowing that only one of them would be crowned the 1972 Homecoming Queen. Patty Barberio was the first Senior Maid of Honor to be announced. Now the field was narrowed down to two. Debbie Radcliff was placed as Senior Maid of Honor, and shrieks of delight were heard as Miss Debbie Johnston was crowned Homecoming Queen. This year for their project they decided to raise enough funds to equip an ambulance for the Harrison County Emergency Squad. The original goal was $1,200, but through hard work the council and the student body raised $2,000. Most of the clubs and various organizations contributed to the cause, and many projects, such as, pizza walks, Film Festivals, and a label project, helped to raise the goal. The largest contribution was given by the Sophomore Class, who raised over $700.00 by raffling a typewriter. Since this is the last year for Victory, the students take great pride in the fact that we left a substantial contribution to the community. February 2, 1973, they celebrated their golden wedding Anniversary with a dinner party with their four children, all graduates of Victory High School and their families. George Dale Junior Nutter, a graduate of 1944, his wife and four sons, Robert (Bob), Randall (Randy), both graduates of V.H.S., Mark, a Jr. at V.H.S. and Bradley, a 5th grade student at Adamston Grade School, wish to take this opportunity to honor their parents and grandparents on this grand occasion. Mr. Nutter, known as Dale to all near and dear, was a member of the first Sophomore Class at V.H.S. and participated in the first football game. This year, he was present at the final football game for V.H.S. and was priviledged to see his grandson, Mark, run the first and fourth touchdowns against W. I., one of Victory's hottest rivals down through the years. A true Victory booster, he was a member of the student body which named V.H.S. and helped start many traditions that were honored through the years.
