THE 1968 OPTIC Published by the Journalism Class Victory High School Clarksburg, W. Va. Phil Evans, Editor Mrs. B. J. Noah, Advisor We THE STUDENTS . . . AjOJO|y JO ' ' ' High School 5 Foreword THIS WAS THE WAY IT WAS - Preserved in this, the Optic ... the story of the year at Victory. The pictorial and literary material contained herein, is an attempt to depict students in the act of being themselves. Though seldom do we realize it, our high school years are impressionable in many ways. The staff of the '68 Optic has attempted to capture these many ways as they become memories. For instance: This was the way it was when the Senior Favorites froze on route to Blackwater Falls; when a Junior boy was forever roaming the halls implying that he was George of the Jungleor when the Harrison County Emergency Squad was beckoned to remove the survivors of a simulated disaster. Each of these had its own special part of our high school year. Though many have assisted in bringing this publication to you, as editor I express my appreciation, and attribute the credit to my staff. It took the diligent effort of Juniors and Seniors alike to construct this annual and without their willing assistance it would have been unachievable. The one teacher who shared and tried to solve his problems, the one teacher who took a true interest and tried to prepare him for the future, and the one teacher whose wisdom and guidance made learning fun ... is the one special teacher who was a friend as well as a counselor. It is with sincere gratitude and appreciation, that we dedicate the 1968 Optic to our one special teacher . . . Mr. James Andrew Mearns. We Dedicate Our Yearbook to . . .
