We Build The Ladder By Which We Rise Our school days, from the time we entered first grade to the day of graduation, can be compared to a ladder of learning. Only by gaining knowledge and wisdom can we reach the top. As a Sophomore, one learns to work with his fellow students; learning what will be expected of him in the future. When he becomes a Junior, he possesses more wisdom and is more capable of accepting responsibilities; thus adding rungs to the ladder of learning. During one s Senior year, the final rungs are constructed. The student is now qualified to face the world and make his own decisions. Therefore, one can justly say, We build the ladder by which we rise. ' 3

As another year draws to a close, we find that we have many joyful memories which will be cherished throughout the years to follow. For the Seniors 1967 was a year of excitement, with an outstanding sports curricula, social events, and scholastic achievements. Also, there was sadness as they prepared for graduation, knowing that thef ' were leaving behind a memorable three years. The Sophomores and Juniors have many things to look forward to during their next years at Victory High School. We, the Staff, hope that this, the '67 Optic, will help each student relive this year,- bringing forth some of the highlights of his school life. It has been said that one opens a book with anticipation and closes it with profit. We hope that this book will meet these requirements. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Mr. Buffington and Mr. Furner, our faithful photographers; to Mr. Willis and the entire faculty; to Mrs. Noah, our advisor; and especially to the staff for their continuous assistance and support. 2 Kay Gillespie, Editor
