PAGE-.EIGHTEEN VICTORY OPTIC 1949 Through the Looking Glass Mommy, Let's listen to the radio. 'iAll right, darling, just a minute while I turn it on. ' Mommy, this is so-O-O nice. I sees them. I sees them! Of course you can, honey, 1.hat's why daddy brought us a television set for Christmas. Who's that man with the bird-cage on his face? Well, I declare, its Sam Bellotte, we were in high school together. Mommy, what game are they playing?'i Darling, that's baseball. When you're a lot older, you'll go to games and yell so hard you'll be hoarse for a week. Mommy, look at that man run. He's fast as lightning. Honey, he's trying to make a run, so his team will be ahead. My goodness, it's Johnny Conner. Wonder where he learned to run like that? Hm-m-m. Maybe he got experience in highschool running from all the girls! .Johnny made his run and now the Dodgers lead the Yankees 7-6. Mother, something's wrong. Someone is hurt, and here comes a white wagon with a :ed cross painted on the top of it. Some men are carrying a funny looking bed. Darling, that's a stretcher and it's being carried by Jack Mikes and Paul Llaneza, Steve Drummond has been injured by a fly-ball. Most of the people are running on the field. Why there's Bob Perkins, the Dodgers Coach, and over there are some nurses, Tillie Muniz, Flora Shiffra, Lorena Hamilton, Onalee Stier, and Iris Reeves. It looks as if the complete nurses home is here. Running down at the farther end of the field is Dr. Carl Crimm carrying his black bag along with his special nurse, Gloria Capicola. Carl always did lag behind in highschool, espe- cially when there was a pretty girl around! ln this huge crowd I see, Gene Riggins, the dog-trainer, Elaine Stewart, private secretary for Bob Ross, the wheat king. Word has been around that Bobby pre- sented her with a chunk of ice that will outdazzle the sun. Here come the Angiulli Twins, who ad- vertise for a popular home permanent manufacturer, and are escorted by Dick Sleeth and Dave Thompson, and Jack Rebrook, the interior decorator, or whiskey dealer as he is better known, followed by the Smith Club with its members, Jean, Jack, Clarence and Emma. That's an undertaker. I'm glad he won't be needed. He has a sign on his back, Jean Andre, Keeper of the Corpses. Let's turn to another station. I hear music! Mommy, who is that beautiful lady singing? It's Jerry Tate, the vocalist with the band of Duane Daniels, and his Dwoodlin Droopers. Mommy, look at the pretty girls dancing. Darling, I believe I know several of them. That pretty one on the end is Edna Collins, and third from the left is Phyllis Swiger, who was so popular in highschool, and there's Patty Pernell dancing in the middle. It seems as if I know that girl next to Patty with the red hair but I can't remember her name. Hm-m-m, Oh, of course it's Rosemary Hamilton, I forgot she dyed her hair. I Mommy, that music was pretty, but it's stopped. Here comes a man, what's he talking about ? Shuh, Let's listen! Ladies, are you skinny and sick? Do your bones protrude. Does your leanness betray your age? Ladies all know you need proof and all have with us today, cute Mrs. Arthur Strother. the former Miss Nancy Davis of Clarksburg, W. Va. Before taking this marvelous money back guarantee remedy, Nancy weighed 89 pounds and today she can top the scales at one-hundred and twenty pounds. H I And now this concludes the Duane Daniel's Hourgof Alarm, sponsored by the medicine of all occasions. Your announcer is Oscar Licchillof' Darling, I think I'll find another program. I sees people, lots of people. Of course you do, this is a church program and the choir is singing. I recognize some familiar faces including Warren Lilyea, Bob Bauld, Jean Thorne, Angie Ventura, Johanna Panther, Connie Diaz, Jerry Webb, Shirley Wooidyard, Tom Harrison, Wilma Gambazza, Andy Kovach, Pauline Llaneza, Rutheda Nestor, June New- brough, Jlm Nemes, Conrad Rhoades, Louise Nar- delli, Carmine Oliverio, Clarabelle Paugh, John Pat- terson, Billy Poling, Annabella Phillips, and Ada Rose Morrison. The choir is conducted by Freda Mae Fritzi Hardman, who is accompanied by Rose Marie Fior- enza at the organ. Father John Barberio will unveil the painting of Christ by the well-known artist, James Patrick O'Grady, as Eva Evangelinos sings, 'The Lord's Prayer! Mommy, that program was so nice, but oh what's this, I see animals, dancing girls, men selling pop corn clowns and everything. It's a circus. Can you imagine? Now the scene is inside the big tent. Hurry, honey and come near the radio before you miss some of the big show. Here comes the acrobat artists, Beulah Hot Rod Carder, Jo Ann Hot Lips Andre and Ruthie Hot Head Coloccia with their spine tingling trapese tricks and cavorting capers. The elephants are prancing around the ring with their trainer, John Kyle, who is also the lion trainer. By the way, Bill O'Field, the circus owner, is scavenging the crowd for a stray lion. Omar Moody, Richard Abraham, Dorsey Baumgardner, Ronald Bell and Charles Davis are pop corn, candy and coke salesmen, and aren't having a very hard time selling, especially to the ladies. Bob Norman, master. of all clowns is performing and has not only the attention and laughs from the juvenile set but also from the adults. Mommie the circus is over. May I stay up for the next program? Nancy Jo, I'll let you stay up tonight, but don't ask me again. And now this is your Jukebox Jamboree, the all-time reuuest program for anyone, anything and anytime. Wading through the stack of letters I see a. request. Romona Barnes and Sarah Secreto request a song for their dearly beloveds, Stanley and Bob. Walking down the street to Woodward and Lothrop's, we were cordially greeted by the de- partment head, Argyll Shingleton, and his host of very charming buyers, Mary Bell Mills, Nancy Caroli, Frances Caletges, Geneva Talerico, Betty Jacobs, Mary Jenkins, and the personnel managers, Mr. William Robinson and Miss Anna Marie Huff- man. While browsing through the Congressional Library, we accidentally bumped into Benny Williams, the Senator from W. Va., who was taking notes for a speech and was being assisted by the capable and attractive librarian, Miss Freda Charles. Be sure to tune in tomorrow, at the same time and station to hear and see the Jukebox Jamboree, the delight of the air wave. Bong-Bong-Bong. This is your good neighbor station K-R-A-Z-Y, signing off from continuous broadcasting for 17 years.
