Vcdecbict uf. It is my honor and pleasure to express, on behalf of the graduating class of ’53, thoughts of farewell to the halls of Vic.—halls that have been our home for the past three or four years. In bidding farewell I would look back at the pleasant times we have enjoyed together as students. To me it seems such a short time ago that we entered the school for the first time. The bewildering routine soon became a part of us—etched into our hearts. We have had fine fellowship of the calibre and type that may be had at no other time in life. We have, by degrees, developed a social conscience and have learned to live and work harmoniously with our fellow man. In addition to this we have received an education—a multi faceted education. The formal classroom type and the know-how of organization and direction of activities. I feel certain that whatever we have learned here will be an asset to us later in life. For the guidance and instruction we have received we have a very select group of people to thank—people who are engaged, by preference, in the profession of teaching. Certainly this is not a lucrative profession with regard to remuneration or any other aspects. Men and women teach because they enjoy helping students and moulding them into young men and women—citizens. I therefore hold that we owe a debt of gratitude to our teachers. A change is always a weird and wonderful experience and we are about to undergo the first major change of our lives. Our schooling is over. What have we to look forward to? We have been given keys to unlock doors in a vast and complex machine. The moulding is over—now comes the test. Your highway in years past has not been smooth nor is it likely to be. However, it is my sincere hope that you all meet with the highest degree of success in your various endeavors. The Boy Scouts have a saying which wisely points out—“Do Your Best.” No more can be expected of any man. ERNIE TRISCHUCK ERNEST TRISCHUK.
