The skill involved takes much hard work and determination. Being a cheerleader also means staying numerous hours after school doing everything from practicing new cheers learned at summer workshop, to making spirit posters. The senior cheerleaders for the 1981-82 school year were April Cook, Linda Purdy, and Lisa Palacios. The biggest sacrifice a cheerleader must make is giving up a lot of her free time to boost the school spirit. When asked if it bothered her much to have to sacrifice so much of her free time for school func- tions, Linda immediately said, No, because most of what we do is a lot of fun. She went on to say that sometimes there are things we aren't able to do because of a game or something, but that's all part of cheerleading and you learn quickly enough that to be one you must be willing to accept these personal sacrifices. seniors f 33

No one at Victoria High would argue that they've not done a great job. This year, with the help ofthe Victoria Advocate and a new computer in the Iournalism Department the Victorian Staff produced a top quality publication covering basic news, sports, and features with highlighted aspects of student life. Department seniors on the staff include Lisa Marlow, Shelley Felux, and Kim Curl, ex- ecutive editorsg Amy Pribyl, Sports editor: Iulie Cole, editorial editor: Sharon Sims, news editor, Stephen Bantz, production design, Dwayne Keith, photography editorg Rick Gonzalez, advertising director, Iana Wright, data management, and Lorree Hennig, Iames Ianssen, Iohnny Krause, Linda Purdy, and Ran- dy Vivian, Staff writers. Victorian advisor is Barclay Burrow. This year the Victorian celebrated its 25th year in print.
