Homecoming sports variet Homecoming festivities began on Tuesday with some Seniors dress- ed up with glittering faces and frizzy hair, but this fad didn't last long. The Punk Rockers found themselves sent to the office for counseling on the dress code. This isn't normally done, but Punk Rock wasn't on the agenda for homecoming. Wednesday came and everyone dressed western from their hats down to their boots. One of the highlights of the week was the first annual Candlelight Pep Rally. The students along with the cheerleaders and the VHS jazz Band provided spirit for the football players. Stingarees left with a feeling of determination! Finally, the big day arrived, Friday. The halls were filled with red and white. After a week of anticipation, the night began with Lorrie Soliz crowning Lisa Palacios Homecoming Queen during pre-game ceremonies. The stadium full of spectators anxiously awaited for a vic- tory. The final curtain came when Brazoswood defeated Victoria with a score of 14 to 6. While others went home disillusioned, many couples attended the Homecoming Dance to listen to the sound of HARGISS. Courtney Wash and Darren Fox present carnations to the cheerleaders on behalf of the football players appreciation. YL J- E' .sl ,Q a Ea? W a asm ight scenes provide excitement The studerits at VHS are la big part of who makes things happen at night, here in Victoria. Because of the raising of the drinking age, most students were not able to party - legally, tht-it is. However, a few still enjoyed the atmosphere of the CT, Al Dean's, and a few even got into Cody's, Victoria's latest in country entertainment. VHS kids dould always be found,at the ever popular Taylor Brothers and Drifters dances, along with those who enjoyed our newest dance band, Hargiss. And of course, for those who preferred a more quiet night, there jwas always the show or cruizing the Sonic or just Jgathering with friends at one of the favorite parking lots. N With all the dancing in Victoria, the Playhouse and the Salem Six theaters were always a nice change of pace. , . j The CT offered the ultimate in modern atmosphere alnd excitement.
