IL competition: a chance for reward For students participating in debate, journalism, ready writing, speech, spelling, number sense, typing, and shorthand, the UIL Literary Meet is the highest level of competition. Students prac- ticed for weeks, some for months, with little chance for reward. At the district meet Cathie Bush placed second in prose reading, Lisa Marlow, third in informative speaking, Betty Schokley, number sense alternate, Chance White and Shelley Felux, debate alternate. hat a show! weeney Todd, also referred to as the Demon of the Barbary ast, was presented this fall by the Victoria High School ama Department. The main character of this Gay Nineties lodrama was portrayed by Iames Ianssen, a senior drama dent. The play was opened in December after several hectic eks under the direction of Mrs. Denise Weaver during which eryone memorized lines, built props and experienced with ge make-up, The production was filled with action and spense which, when combined with everyone's enthusiasm, in a tremendous show.
