First round ends in tie The first round of district play ended in a four-way tie bet- ween the Stings, Dulles, Angleton, and Stroman. Brazoswood was the winner of the second round but the Stings successful- ly competed in the district playoffs to capture the District 25- 5A title. The Stings then defeated Austin Lanier and Corpus Christi King to win bi-district, and were only one step away from the State Tournament. baseball X 215

District 25-5A top pla ers The success of the Stings is attributed to their ability to play as a team - a team of very talented players. Courtney Wash was named Most Valuable Player of the district, with a 14-5 record, and a no-hitter game against Stroman. Sammy Flores and Adolph Vega were also first team selections. Larry Lesikar, Mike Hernandez, Troy Huffmaster, and Ronnie Cant were named to the second team. Kevin Coffman and a Calhoun baseman scramble for the base. Playoffs end with loss to Ieffem' After their bi-district win over Austin Lanier, the Stings met San An- tonio Iefferson in the Regional playoffs. The series started in a 1-1 tie, with the third game determining who would advance to the State Tournament in Austin. What do you mean, I'm out!? D a rr e n Fo x g e t s disgusted with the game.
