Stings keep rolling Victoria Stingarees rolled past another Corpus Christi team with a 34-14 win here at Memorial Stadium over the Carroll Tigers. In the first quarter, quarterback lim Furr had a 70 yard pass play faking it to Curtis Adams, then hit- ting to split end Sammy Flores, tie- ing the score 7-7. With the determination of let Brown, Iohn Anderson, and Robert Vasquez, the score was then boosted at 14-7 in Victoria's favor. Stings in winning streak The Stingarees' third straight non-district win came with the 16-6 victory over Corpus Christi King. Offense put points on the scoreboard, while defense caused a pair of fumbles and an in- terception. The kicking game added a field goal and left the Mustangs in poor field positions. let Brown's fourth-quarter touchdown iced the win for the Stings. The touchdown drive began as Charles King took the ball which had been recovered by Fagan Patterson. Curtis Adams then followed to let Brown, who broke through the line for the score. Stings lose district opener The Victoria Stingarees opened district 25-AAAAA competition with 1 27-7 loss to the Lamar Mustangs. Dropping from the ranks of undefeatec teams, the loss left Victoria standing at 4-1 for the season and 0-1 in leagui play. Iet Brown ran a 44-yard dash down the left sideline, giving Victoria it only edge of the evening as the Stings rode a 7-0 lead into the seconr quarter. The Mustang offense then took over and directed the action. t Stings are Number One. The battle is won in the trenches. Victoria has the ball. 144 f football
