'St' Evans George stays ver busy Evans George is a very active person during and after school. His favorite sport is basketball. In 1977 he became interested in this sport through the Y.M.C.A. and got his first taste of participating in school basketball for Crain in 1980 and 1981. This year he is playing for the freshmen team as a forward guard. Since 1979 he has been in band playing in the percussion section. This year he is a member of the VHS Concert Band. The National Iunior Honor Society is still another activity which keeps Evans busy. He studies hard to maintain his 90 average. This year Evans was voted Ugly Man by his fellow classmates. It is a popular int dividual sport that is appealing to freshmen as well as tc the other classes. Usually the freshmen team has more members on it than the varsity, because their team consist: of many beginners. This season there are fifteen members. They practicn during fourth period with help and advice from Coach A C. Blunt. All team members, including Pet Palmer, devote much o their leisure time after school and on weekends to prepart for tournaments and polish up on their skills. They are con stantly training year-round in hopes of being on the junio varsity team next year. They quickly learn the meaning o the words competition and defeat With their potentia abilities VHS will surely be proud of a great varsity team ii 1985. 132 X freshmen
