In our life time, we open many doors which lead to wider horizons. As we progress through the last door in VCS, and begin to open greater ones, we would like to take this book as a reminder of all the doors which have been opened by, and to us thus far. TABLE OF CONTENTS Title Page Foreword Dedication Appreciation Editor Administration Seniors Classes Activities Sports Ads DEDICATIO We are dedicating this book to someone who has been a major factor in our education, a part of school life as long as we have been here. Her instruction has been toward the doorway of life. She has taught us discipline while teaching us to laugh at ourselves. It has been a pleasure having her for a teach- er. For your constant guidance we would like to thank you by dedicating this 1957 Bagel to you, Mrs. Popenhusen. Through the past few years, you have opened your door of vast knowledge to us and we have entered. Now as we pass through it again, on our way out, we remind ourselves of all the numerous hours you have spent in helping us. We took for granted your help in locating research for class assignments and books for our reading enjoyment. Now, we hope in this way, we can really show our ap- preciation for your services. To you, Miss Averill, we present this book. APPRECIATIO Miss Averill EDITCR Betsy Burgan As we leave Victor Central School and close the last door of high school behind us, we take our yearbook as a lasting memento of our youth. A most important possession now, in years to come its value will even increase. During the many weeks of yearbook preparation, my staff and advisor have been a constant help. I would like to thank them for their en- couragement and understanding. 6 af Mxg FF W 4: Q E3 llllllllu llh I 'M I him Ml nil FW! How many do you use? Door pl is the door that slams shut when one loses his temper. Reason goes out the window and when it returns he discovers suddenly how childish it all was. This door you could do with- out. lt's just an extra drafty opening that never helps, it only hurts. This is a trap door! Door .E is the door that swinqs ajar. lt opens and closes on the Hjekyll and Hyden personality that most of us have. Cne side of the door we show to ourselves and our very close friends one side we show to the outside world. Ne may fool the latter but rarely the former. This is an escape hatch! Door 33 is an open door. It says to the world of people -- H1 like you.H lt invites friendship from others. It tries to set the good example -- at work, at home, and at play. lt respects ' the Golden Rule and all it stands for. This is the door to op- portunityl Most of us spend our life moving in and out of these three types of doors. We slam Door al, peer around Door 52, and all too often we wait too lonq before we push Door W2 wide open and see the world as it really is. How about it? Jhich door are you using most frequently? Sincerely yours, Ffvi - N Alton B. Corbit, Principal ADC:BHS o 3 BOARD OF EDUCATIO We, as students, do not realize the work done by our School Board. This group of men spends much time in discussion at meetings mak- ing policies to keep our school running smoothly. They receive only the reward of honor and the satisfaction of a job well done. As we pass out this last door, we wish to extend our appreciation to you for the many, many doors you have opened to us. Mr. Sale, Mr. Corbit, Mr. O'Brien, Mr. Kocher, Mx. CLASS OFFICERS When the school year started there were many interesting and benficial doors to be opened First was a very successful stationery campagin. The other activities included the sponsoring of the annual Hallo- ween Dance, a roller skating party, the sale of pop and candy at home basketball games, and serving at several dinners. The hardest door to open was to the JuniorProm. It was well worth the effort. The most exciting door was to the class rings. As the doors closed on a very successful year, grateful appreciation is extended to Alice Barry, a com- petent leader, Miss Berry and Mr. Francello, for their helpful guidance. 43 i FIRST ROW: M.
