The School Board bought fifteen brand new football uniforms and the boys worked hard on laying out a regulation football field. We obtained a faithful coach in Carl Palumbo. Mr. Palumbo spent much time in teaching the boys the fundamentals of football. He had a hard time in molding a team because of the small number of boys, and the short time he had. The squad had a high spirit and fought right to the end in every game. The members of the squad elected Gene Fritz and Jim Antonio co-captains to head the squad in 1949. Gene Fritz led the team in scoring with five touchp downs. . The scores of our three league games are as follows: Phelps 52 Victor 6 'Manchester 39 Victor 6 Clifton 46 Victor 52 54
