Class Prophecy Because of this wholesale, all out struggle for freedom, liberty, and a good life, which we all consider should be our blessed heritage, we are led to believe in the course of a decade, we may find ourselves separated from one another In order to ascertain the status of each one of us at the termination of another one tenth of a century, let us turn to an old seer persuad ing him to give us a glimpse into the future Ah' simple enough Martha Abell and Betty Antisdale are gossiping over the back yard fence in Warren Center With this bit of information the old man rubs his hands, appearing to be stymied Breathlessly we watch him, wondering if he will be able to continue, he gazes avidly into space and t last sees a fine little office where Lois Beckhorn, Doctor of Psychiatris assisted by her able nurse, Fwen Adriance Joyce Brearley's nursing time seems to be largely consumed by repairing patients as they leave Rhoda Bunzy's beauty ship Dorothy Canfield still seems to be having trouble planning a nutritious meal for all the family Remember that old saying of Caesar's, 'Let me have men about me that are fat, and such as sleep o'n1ghts, Yon Cassius has a lean and hungry look, he thinks too much such men are dangerous'? Neither old Caesar nor any of us ting accustomed to civilian life again That 'lean and hungry look' is gone and we are amazed at the corpulent Captain Cassius com ing towards us Johnny Davidson is telling junior and little Margie stories of the time he used to sail the seven seas Bertha Decker's voice seems to say, 'Number, Please ' It appears as if Dick Dennis is trying to decide which were his best days those in the Navy or in varsity sports Bob Densberger is unloading his cargo in Singapore Ann Dibble, Bev Goon, Mable Jackson, Ruth Jacobs and Gayle Jones are all competent nurses in the Rest U Well Hospital in Vestal, N Y where Barbara Miller is head dietitian Larry Drum flies from New York to San Francisco with the American Air L1nes while Belle Hill acts as chief airline stewardess on his snip Stella Drum and Evelyn Lawton are doing splendidly in Hathaway Struthers's law office I can see nothing but fame from this class as I watch Bruce Ellis review his latest book 'Skyways or Highways' assisted bv Janice Fritsch, his competent secretary David Harkness and Beulah Hill seem to have at least one thing in common, their love for fine art David reels off organ notes while Beulah strokes gently with a brush If you must take a peep at George Harris, there he stands just ready to deliver his Sunday morning sermon as a solemn hush settles over the audience Alas' Must all this fame end so soon? N , 1t's just Peter Flipse's sign, 'Undertaker All is peace again, and we notice Betty Herrick, Nellie Hibbard, Margaret Pendelton and Barbara Pierce are doing a swell job of housekeeping Clary Holdren, Bob Lyons, Darwin Rappold, and Norman Wood by this time seem to be old regulars with the Navy Ralph Scott and Bob Shirley think they're soft since they have left Marine Aviation Don Haman and Bob Shapley show us how two engi neers can work without a strike Ferne Sheard, Mary Spoor and Yvonne Wakeley are doing a fine job at Fort Knox Hospital under the command of Lt Col Harlan Smith Local industry seems to have claimed Iris Neild, Jane Smith, Shirley Lupole, Dorothy Obrochta and Theresa Pullis Lois McManus and that sailor are still looking for a house in which to start housekeeping After all this time 'Huck' Littlejohn and Louie Hill still seem to be the local hit, as they play leading roles in 'Retired at Twenty seven ' Ray Hill and Howard Jensen seem to remind us of Dagwood as they dash for the 6 10 to Reming ton Rand Gayle Steele and Alice M86 Panza look extremely gratified as they see their pupils get the alphabet mastered once and for all fthey hope, Evelyn Woodcook doesn't seem to be doing too badly teaching piano, either There's something new in Vestal as reductions on all dresses Let's watch Emma Paff, beautician, fix up Patty McGrath just before she leaves for the office Hugh Zimmer, honorable mayor of Vestal, seems to be introducing Lois Moulton, Navy nurse, and Captain Markley Smith, Army hero, who will tell the 400 club about their experiences in Tokyo Another long pause We hope the old seer has not lost his vision N , he s watching Kenny Warner Look at Kenny Warner, mess sergeant, come to attention as Shirley McMullen, Marine nurse, passes by Pat Steele jumps to answer the phone for her employer, Forrest Potter Joe Miller is flying Norma Marsh to Hollywood from Ma1ne's new airport just to apply to movie producer Bob Toulson for a role in 'Life s But a Lovely Dream ' Last, but far from least, watch Mr Donald Washburn, president of International Business Machines, present Marian Wesley, Metropolitan opera singer, with a fine corsage for singing 'Pod Be With You Till We Meet Again Our old prophet has omitted not one in the class of '45, and as we humbly thank him for these gl1mpses into the future we feel more secure in our knowledge that our goodly heritage of a good life will be still intact and our present battle and conflicts will not have been in vain - o .
