Nokes, Secretary to the Superintendent will retire June 30, 1976, after serving the Vesta- burg School System for 28 consecutive years. Eva came to work in the fall of 1948 as the only secre- tary in the District. She was the receptionist, book- keeper, payroll clerk, lunch accountant, typist and many times study hall monitor. During this period she served as secretary to Superintendents Clair C. Stauffer, J. D. Scoby, Ed- ward J. Barry, and Keats R. Wood. Eva has been very devoted to her job, the school, the church, the community, and her family. We will miss her quick steps and ready smile. Have a wonderful retirement. You earned it! Harry Brown We would like to give recognition to Harry Brown who has lived in this community for 79 years. Harry worked for the Vestaburg School Sys- tem from January, 1936 to Spring 1940. During this time Harry drove the first school bus for the Vestaburg School. Harry then worked elsewhere for a few years, returning to work at the Vestaburg School in 1956-57 and has worked continously since then (only part time for the past few years). During the 23 1 2 years Harry has been with the Vestaburg Schools, he has been devoted to his work, his love for children, his church, family and his community. Harry graduated from Vestaburg High School in 1915 with a class of four. Harry and his wife have two children who also graduated from Vestaburg High School. The Vestaburg School children will always re- member you Harry for your treat of Molasses Cookies at Christmas time. ADMINISTRATION o From Our Superintendent For the last 4 years your school has wrestled with the pro- blem of additional space for our student body. Now there is a proposal to add space to the high school building, vocational building, and to provide a newK-4 elementary school. In addition there is a proposal for a new running track and tennis courts (long overdue) plus football field, baseball diamond and softball fields. Because you are closer to the need than many parents, you may want to take some of the responsibility for explaining the space problem. You are our future and upon your shoulders the Vestaburg Community School's destiny will ultimately rise or fall. We hope the educational and practical training you have received will aid your decisions. From Our Principal . . . For the class of 76, The time has come to enter into the adult world. Although high school is a reality it is still only a miniaturization of the real world. Our hope, therefore, lies in the thesis that students live with one other in a society full of turmoil and controver- sy. Hopefully the school of hard knocks , which is still ahead of you, will not be so difficult. You have the destiny and knowledge to make your future society a safe and meaningful place to live.
