WOLVERINE 1965 PROGRESS V E 8 T A B U R G M I C H I G A N ((ST edic a ti on We, the 1965 Yearbook Staff, are honoring our Sponsor, Mr. Alger Demo- rest, by dedicating this book to him. It is only with his help and guidance that we have been able to have an Annual this year. We hope that by this honor he will realize how much we appreciate his help and how happy we have been to be able to work with him and have him as our Sponsor. 2 FACULTY SUPERINTENDENT SCOBY AT THE HELIV It took a long time in coming, but education is finally recognized as the keystone which supports all other aspects of our national and natural life. Just my short four years as chief administrator will bear out this statement at the local level by just looking around at our school surroundings. Sadly, but not regretfully, the Old High School of 1913 vintage has been tom down. In its place stands eight new intermediate classrooms, special education, an elementary office for more effective supervision and administration at the elementary level and a remodeling of the old gym for elementary use. Two new high school rooms and a new gym enhance and make for better use of the present 1959 Clair Stauffer building; The Ruth Otterbein Elementary building is still in good repair after eleven years of use. Practically speaking, it's common knowledge that an investment in education is one of the best pos- sible business investments. Students, I challenge you to accept these basic educational thoughts or do you choose to be left behind in the main stream of our rapidly changing society? SLAVES OF THE UPPER OFFICE EVA NOKES VIRGIE HANSEN SECOND IN COMMAND Leah Harris THE BOARD OF EDUCATION Doris Silvert, Gene Stauffer, Art Stratton, J. D.
