THE THE FUTURE Plans for the new school have been com- pleted, and construction is now under way. Some of the most outstanding features are; the walls will be of colored metal so that they can easily be kept clean, each room will have its own thermostat. MONITOR SYSTEM Monitors or monsters, as they were sometimes called, first appeared at Vestaburg this year. We are proud of the job they have done in retaining order in our halls, classrooms, and study halls. Our monitor system was organized due to the noise at noon and in our halls during passing to and from classes. The noise was cut down considerably and the amount of jokes and pranksters reduced to a minimum. The monitors gave a demerit for each misdemeanor or two if necessary. A person receiving three demerits was to spend one noon hour in the detention room or more according to the seriousness of his or her act. Any questionable demerits were brought before a board consisting of Roger Chapman, Paula Fisk, Dorothy Grover, and Nina Carrick. The system was originated by Lynwood St. Peter, Ray Elder and Roger Chapman. We hope in years to come it will become a more important system in school and a more strict one. 28 STANDING: Mr. Lahman, Mike Cor- lew, Jerry Johnson, Roger Chap- man, Lana Wadle, Gary Shaduct, Nancy Smith. LIBRARY This year as in following years the library has been efficiently run by Mr. Lahman and his many librarians. The librarians take shifts by each one or two taking care of Library during their study hall period. They receive 1 4 credit for each year's work. We have access to many new books this year as many new ones have appeared in the Library. I'm sure our Library has been of great help to every one in their daily assign- ments and extra work such as themes. Library work consists of many things. Filing, checking out and in of books, and many other such duties. 29 ACTIVITIES Sponsor HUBBARD'S DRUG STORE Director: Mr. Uren BAND The Dance Band TOP ROW: Jim Showers, Allan Graham, Phyllis Switzer, Carolyn Tubbs, Dolores Bradley, Sharon Frost, Sharon Phelps, Janie Erskin, Paul Corder, Kay Bunce, Devere Curtiss. 2nd ROW: Mike Sabin, Sara Wilson, Keith Nyquist, Hugh Callison, Dick Bradley, Lana Wadle, Verona Cairl, Nadine Stearns, Eldon Stratton. 3rd ROW: Rick Erskin Stewart Yeomans, Doug Welch, Bruce Hall, David Lester, Mike Beard, Bary Bennett, Mr. Uren. 4th ROW: Betty Stratton, Dolores Thomm, Rozanne Mallory, Kay Keeler, Bonnie Tubbs, Kay Rusnell, Ruth Harris Poppy Hubbard.
