NETHERLANDS IAN 18 1969 Den Helder was, for many of us, our first glimpse of Northern Europe. Located on a penninsula forty-five miles north of Amsterdam, Den Helder is a new and modern town, as well as being the onl maior Naval base in the Netherlands. Here we joined the ot er Stanavforlant ships - Van Nes and Limburg from Holland, Narvik and Stavanger from Norway, and Dido from England.
