1975 marks a commemorative milestone in the history of the yearbook. The 1975 PORTAL is the fiftieth yearbook to be published at Versailles. Begun in 1922 as THE ANNUAL, the yearbook was then published from 1923 to 1929 by the junior class and entitled THE SWAST1KIAN. In 1930, the title was changed to THE VERSAILLES and continued as such until 1967 when THE PORTAL became its name. The year- book fell upon hard times and was not published in 1933. Again crises struck during World War II when THE VERSAILLES was absent from student life during 1943, 1944, and 1945. The passage of time affects us all. As the seasons of the school year roll by, we are reminded of the past and its effect upon us in the future. We hope this yearbook makes us more aware of the past.
