Manager A potent lineup of hitters, a tight defense and adequate pitching combined to give the Tigers a fine 18-5 record on the diamond this year. Although the season showed an excellent record, the team was disappointed in being eliminated in the first game of the tournament by Bellefontaine 6-3 with 8 errors. After early losses to Indian Lake and Graham, the hitting of Mangen, Pitsenbarger, Morris, Barton, and Treon led the team back to a three way tie for the Three Rivers League Championship. Most Valuable Player Pitsenbarger, Barton, Jeff Grilliot, and Mike Morris will be sorely missed next year, but Coach Stall has a fine nucleus to build on. OK Team! Listen up and listen up good! 71 HOLE IN ONE! Coach Wick, Mike Geus, Tim Plait, Barb Brewer. John Swallow, Dave Layman Ever-so-Talented The Versailles Golf Team had both a disappointing and satisfactory season. Last years’ team graduated all of the lettermen. Not much was really expected for the new golf coach and his team, and the team at first lived up to expectations. However as the season progressed, the scores were lower and lower. The team ended in a tie with Graham in the TRC for fifth place. Coach Wick's team continued to improve, and ended the season with a 7-8 record. The team will lose but one golfer and will pick up several good freshmen next year. Led by Medalist Dave Layman, the future looks bright. Coach Wick! Not a bad shot! Remember-All-Platt! It was led by the Marching Band and ended up at the football field where everyone was waiting for the crowning of the queen. The crowd was silent as it was announced that the 1973 Homecoming Queen was Karen Schlater. It was then time for the big game against the Covington Buccs. The Tigers played with determination but were defeated, 38-0. Days before the dance the girls talk about their new dresses and the guys about their dates. Everyone looks forward to that special night which this year was October 27. The theme was Cherished Moments and the music by Shadowfax was really enjoyed. Midway through the dance Marvin Knapke was crowned King. Congratualtions to Karen and Marv! 83 THE DEATH AND LIFE OF LARRY BENSON CAST Freda Benson Jessie Benson. Sam Benson... The highlight of the formal dance was the crowning of Queen Nancy Mescher and King Joe Barga. The music, provided by “Snap was enjoyed by everyone. The dance lasted until twelve o’clock, but there was still more to come. The af-ter-Prom dance featured square dancing to the music of the DeMangc Band.
