THE HOMECOMING OF 1956 On the night of November 2, 1956, the Versailles Tigers met Minster in a hard-fought football game in which Versailles was victorious. Before the game the class attendants, Peg Barga, freshman; Helen Baltes, sophomore; Betty Dapore, junior; and Doris Rindler, senior, rode in convertibles preceding the float. On the float were the five girls chosen by the senior class as their choice for queen. Unknown to all until her name was announced over the microphone, Miss Carolyn Smith was chosen Homecoming Queen of 1956 and was crowned by the former queen, Miss Miriam Ashman. Carolyn’s court included Carol Crooks, Virginia Frantz, Lucille McClure, and Brenda Trittschuh. After the game a dance was held at the high school gym in honor of the new queen. Betty Dapore ’58 —6—
