Heroes Still Despite Their Spill Although for searing disappointment There’s no real unguent, salve or ointment, This flight of victory’s sweet ration Reflects no real humilitation Upon Versailles’ resplendent fighters. Urbana’s big five, illusion’s blighters, Acquired the tourney’s banner In free and fair and forthright manner. And what is crown our grasp eluded? Must we be then from fame excluded? For shame! Our team, its heart, its talent, Won all respect that’s due the gallant. (In hist’ry books, full oft a winner Rides down the years with luster thinner, Though kissed by Fortune momentarily, Than he who fought and lost but narrowly.)
