THE VERSAILLES Page19 Has always a smile, never a frown. Velma has an intellectual brow and thoughtful face, Sunny air and pensive grace. Alma has a face with gladness overspread, Soft smiles by human kindness bred. Artists are born, not made -so has it been said, And I've come to think all artists aren't dead- That's Earl. Herschel dares to all that may become a man- Who dares do more is none. Cletus is a good athlete and always tries, With his ambition he is bound to rise. Berniece's face is fair, her heart is true, Her charms always seem ever new. Dick is the blue-eyed lad with flaxen hair, With a ready smile and knowing air. Ralph finds himself suddenly awkward around the ladies, Says he is only interested in mathematical figures. Esther's eyes, dark pools so calm and deep- A thousand ages in them sleep. Robert is boyish, witty and tall, Good in basketball and liked by all. Homer works with keys, not piano keys or door- But works with keys of typewriters and gets work galore. Still we gazed and still our wonder grew That one small head could hold all Evelyn knew. I'm never very foolish, never too gay, But ready for good sport any old day. -Maxine Jacobi, '34,

Page18 THE VERSAILLES OUR CLASS Now there are in the Senior Closs All together thirty lads and lassies, And if you'll give me your time I'l1 tell you about it in rhyme. Henry is no sinner, nor no saint perhaps, But he is the very best of chaps. I know what Cupid did, and I think it was a sin To carve a cunning dimple in the middle of Margaret's chin Margery is never seen Without a smile And our hearts doth she beguile. Billie is pretty and quiet, Always smiling and always right. George is, with the ladies, a demon, frank and gay, And also has a will that wins a, way. Pauline is lovable, frivolous and gay- Believes in having her own way. With a sweet smile and winning way Loretta spreads happiness every day. When others with John do not agree, He always argues until his point they see. So many things of Robert G. can be said, Two pages, not lines, would be needed instead. As for Otis, who is ever level, ever true, Always doing the task he has to do. Merle is not a man of words, but of deeds, And in his work, he generally succeeds. Treva has hair of golden hue, And what she says is always true. Robert H. is here, there and everywhere, And in football he's a treasure rare. Sedate and grave, William goes on his way, Making a new friend each day. Here's to Drusilla with eyes of blue, No matter what happens, she'll always be true. Look, Albert is winding up the watch of his wits, By and by it will strike. Mary has black, curly hair, and eyes of brown,
