Agriculture Agriculture classes are complimented by the FFA, which extends the classroom teaching activities into business adventures. The activities of each are corre- lated so closely that you can't really distinguish where one ends and the other begins. You will learn how to repair your lawn mower and other small motors, learn how to test your soil for proper crop growth, learn to repair or rebuild your tractor or construct a trailer, learn how to increase production of your livestock, and join in on farm and farm related field trips. The title Language Arts covers an extensive area. It is not just the study of Gram mar, Composition, or Literature. Its goal is to create a versatile person. What is learned in Language Arts is used in other classes and in daily life. The language arts class should present a normal social situation to allow an ex- change of expression, both oral and written, realistically and imaginatively, about students' opinions and feelings. It should furnish various experiences through liter- ature of both the past and present to provide enjoyment and emotional release con ducive to wholesome personal development. The Language Arts Department provides several classes to fulfill these goals. Communications I and Il are required classes and cover fundamental grammar and composition. Elective classes for Juniors and Seniors are American Conflicts in Lit- erature, Western Literature, Speech and Dramatics, and College Prep. Top right: A typical day in Drama l. They established the best record of any team in the 5 years I have been here. They finished a very impressive 5th out of 23 schools at district and won the Tri-County Conference Championship for the second year in a row. Indeed, it was a VERY GOOD year for the Tiger golfers. With less than a minute of play remaining, Kent fouled out of the game. For Kent, the game, the season, and his high school basketball career ended abruptly. He finished with a career total of 1,180 points and 267 fouls. ' Like basketball, in LIFE you will make some points and commit some fouls. As in basketball, there is always someone or something there to keep you from your points. Sometimes they'll beat you. When one basketball game is over, we must pick up the pieces, forget our mistakes, and prepare for the next one, so in life, when one goal is reached, or lost, we must prepare for the next. The game of basketball has many cycles-some exciting and thrilling, some disappointing. Life's cycles, also, are many-some exciting and thrill- ing, some disappointing. Life is like a basketball-its direction and purpose depends upon who's in control. As all things must end, so must thisl school year fthis cyclej. All that is left now are memories. Life will go on, the points will mount up, but some- where along the way, we'l1 commit one foul too many. cf I 1 Q 1 N , J 1 1 1 5 1 1 1 1 1 1
