Compliments Of VERSAILLES GREENHOUSE Senior History On September 6, 1955, the class of '59 started its four year journey through V.H.S. Now four years later we have lost some of our members, gained others, but have come to graduation with 64 class members. John Belcher was our Freshman President. Ann Klein served as our first vice-president, with Sharon Berkstresser, secretary, and Jereline Frisbie, treasurer. Gary Waller, Don Edwards, and Ann McDonald were our freshman student council representatives. As Freshmen our class had quite a few activities: Our homecoming float was based on the theme, Sailing to Victory, and Doris Carpenter was our candidate for homecoming queen. We sponsored a ball game stand and a St. Patrick's Day Party. The Freshman class was proud that its candidate, Pat Downey, was the annual queen. Our sophomore class officers were Bob Nelson, President; Sharon Berkstresser, Vice- President; Dolores Vaught, Secretary; and Lois Stevenson, Treasurer. Our Sophomore Represen- tatives to the Student Council were Ann Klein, Jereline Frisbie, and Don Edwards. John Belcher, a fellow class member was Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Council and also our represen- tative to the Sophomore Pilgrimage. We participated in homecoming with a float and our candidate for queen was Pat Downey. Our Sophomore all-school party was held November 30. Ann Klein was our candidate for Annual Queen. In the Spring of '57 we left our old home to come to the building that has housed us our last two years of high school. It was here that our Sophomore class provided the entertainment for the '57 Banquet, Starlight Club. Our junior year . began and we were truly upperclassmen. Gary Waller served our class as President; Don Eckhoff, Vice-President; Vera Sue Scott, Secretary; and Darlene McDowell, Treasurer; with Eva Juhl, Reporter and Doris Carpenter, Historian. Bob Nelson, L. K. Cable, and Lois Stevenson were our Student Council Representatives. Two members of our Junior Class were Student Council officers, John Belcher was Vice-President and Sharon Berkstresser was Secretary-Treasurer. Our homecoming float had a Wash Up Alumni theme and our homecoming candidate was Loretta Morrison. We sponsored the Christmas party and also had a paper drive and sold magazines to raise money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. Mildred Beach was our Annual Queen Candidate. Gary Waller was our representative to Boys' State and Ann McDonald, our representative to Girls' State. We finished our Junior year by sponsoring the Junior-Senior Banquet with a theme of Blues In the Night. On Tuesday, September 2, 1958, we began our year as mighty Seniors. Many honors have come to members of our class this year. Sharon Berkstresser was the V.H.S. homecoming queen and also the most popular girl. John Belcher was the most popular boy. Gary Waller served as Student Council President. Our Senior class officers were Don Edwards, President; Pat Downey, Vice-President: Eva Juhl, Secretary; and Jim Wilkinson, Treasurer. Ann McDonald was Class Historian, and Doris Carpenter, Reporter. Our Senior candidate for Annual Queen was Wanda Raines. We were very proud that several members of our class served on the V.H.S. basketball team that went to state and that Don Eckhoff was chosen a member of the All-State team. Mrs. Ann Marriott has diligently and efficiently sponsored our class for four years, for which the class is truly grateful. Now we have marched in the graduation procession to the music of the school band and, are at last, alumni (our class has 100 per cent membership in the V.H.S. alumni association). These four years have, perhaps, gone fast for some of us and slow for others, but no matter how the years have passed, as our class begins its way into the world, the memory of V.H.S. will be with us always. We know we have included many things you may feel are un- necessary and have omitted a number of things you would have liked to see. We know we have misspelled names and have probably confused an equal number of pictures; however, we have tried to do our best. So, when looking and reading through your MIRROR, won't you please try to overlook the errors and omissions you may find and enjoy what you do see? We do hope you are pleased with the result of our labor.
