BILI.Y WOODS He is known by the noise that he doesn't make. Carnival 2. LOIS ZORTMAN Speak softly and smile sweetly. '' Entered 4. Pep Squad 4, Softball 4. We, the graduating class of '51, have successfully completed four years of study and of learning to live together, four of the most important years of our lives. Years which will live in our memories and which have brought to all of us experiences no books could ever teach. We have taken the hard knocks offered; we've learned to live with one another, work together, and co-operate with those with whom we come in con- tact. We have gone a long way since the first of September, 1947, Many of us have experienced heart aches as well as joys, but we've come through with flying colors. We were all more or less strangers that first morning of our high-school career. A few of our boys went out for basketball and softball and began their training that has made them outstanding in athletics for the past two years. We adapted ourselves quickly and well. At the beginning of our sophomore year we entered into school activities with an energy that was admirable. We were well on our way toward that Up- perclassmen goal for which we were striving, and were indeed looking for- ward with much anticipation to the Junior-Senior Banquet, at which we en- tertained with a mock circus. As juniors, in 1949-50, the freshmen and sophomores looked up to us. We were at last mighty juniors almost capa- ble of carrying the responsibilities of the whole world on our shoulders. Our junior year was a successful year. May 12, 1950, was a big day for all upper- classmen, for that was the day of the junior-senior banquetwhich we juniors had been looking forward to for the last few years. We worked hard, had fun, and put over a very successful banquet. With the help of our sponsors we decorated the gym for commencement and gave the seniors of '50 a hearty but reluctant send-off, ever mindful of the great task remaining before us in '51, Seniors at last! The upperclassmen, no one to look up to ! We actually felt a little lost and bewildered the first few weeks of school, but v e soon became accustomed to it. You juniors gave us a lovely banquet and commencement and we appreciate the time and work spent. Now it is time to depart from the halls of V. H. S. to take our place in the world of tomorrow. Yes, our high school ca- reer is ended, but we know you juniors have the ability to carry on from where we left off as the never-ending cycle of high school graduations move onward. We want to thank our teachers who have helped us weather the storms which always led to cleare r horizons, We know we have been trying at times, but you've been wonderful and we appreciate all you've done from the bottom of our hearts. So to you, the seniors of'52 w . leave this thought in mind: As your sen- ior year draws near, look forward to it with a zeal and spirit that is unchal- lengeable, and above all remember Anything that is worth doing at all is worth doing well.
