Class History The Whitehorne High School was taken by storm in 1928 by a class of sixty-eight Freshmen. The task of calming the jubilant spirits in order to elect our officers fell to Miss Hosp and Mr. Wilkin, class deans. The officers were Walter Burchum, presi- dent, Victor Duffy, vice-president, and Lena Di Bella, secretary. Duly in- itiated on a hike to the Hemlocks, we gave a class party and ended our first year ready for a new conquest in the fall. ln our Sophomore year Victor Duffy, president, was assisted by Doris Sims, vice-president, and Jean Fismer, se- cretary. Miss Cheney was our class dean. The annual hike was no more and our wrath was vented on the Freshmen by very mild means. The operetta, Rosemunde, had many Sop- homores in the cast. We set a re- putation for enjoyable parties at the one we gave in March. Another June had come and we were half way thr- ough High School. The Juniors were an important group the next year. Miss Cook was our dean and Victor Duffy, Hugh Lynn and Floyd Bragg, our officers. The school play, The Magistrate, had a majority of juniors in the cast as did the operetta, Sailor Maids. In the spring, after much hard work, we showed what we could do by pro- ducing the tenth edition of Shadows. We were the hosts at Class night and after the graduation exercises we were Seniors. As dignified Seniors we invited the school to a good time at our Hal- Iowe'en Party. Our officers were Victor Duffy, president, Virginia Mil- ler, vice-president, and Dorothy Jacob, secretary. An almost all Senior cast. presented Honor Bright as the annual play and in March the Glee Clubs produced The, Pirate's Daugh- ter. ln the Spring our class dean, Miss Cook, entertained us with a party at her home and the P. T. A. gave us a dinner where we enjoyed the good fellowship of our classmates. Class Night and graduation, swiftly following, marked the close of our High School career. P. M. '32 l18Jb

Class Song '32 Beloved halls of High School days, We leave thy friendly, shelt'ring arms To venture forth, to go our ways- To taste life's proffered heights and charms. And though our paths may never meet Once we have parted hence, we'll still Keep always thy clear mem'ry sweet - Thy high ideals, our soverign will. CHORUS Hail! fairest class, the red and blue! Hail noble class of thirty-two! Our High School years we've put behind Among our happiest memories, And onward go, to cut or bind, To lose or win, God only sees Our future, knows our road, but we, Whatever be our lot, will aim To keep thy colors unstain'd, free. To do just honors to thy name. M. E. H. '32 THE HSHADOWS' SOUL By the time you, my reader, reach this page that foretells my bio. graphy you will have read and gazed upon writings and pictures. which, as the years roll by, it will become impossible to evaluate because of the memories I will awaken. I will be taken to my new home and undoubtedly receive a position of importance in the bookcase or on the drawing table. In the span of life I will witness sorrow and joy, misfortune and happiness, but no matter which prevails I will always do my best to guide my owner back through the years to pleasant memories. From time to time l will be picked up and have my pages thumbed and possibly torn by a thoughtless move., but this will serve only to en- rich me because it will be a symbol of the services l have shown. As my master's hair turns silvery, and his back begins to bend, l also will grow older because l am proud to state that l will always be a part of my owner's life. Founded and created to bring back and restore cherished in- cidents, I will live with my possessor and serve my duty to him, and upon his death live on as a memorial. Yours forever, S H A D 0 W S C .W. 33 E191
