 As the burning candle lights the darkness, so does education light the path of life . . . The school year of 1971-72 began August 30 - much to the dismay of all. Football season came and went; the Loggers didn’t acquire the most fantastic record, but spirit remained strong. Cross country was especially good this year - with a bus load of students attending the district meet as spectators. Then there were nine-weeks tests and Thanksgiving vacation. December was highlighted by the Loggers’ championship at the Concordia Tourney and by Christmas vacation. With the new year came more basketball, semesters, and the worst flood in over fifty years. Basketball dominated the scene until after spring vacation. The Loggers climaxed their season with a trip to the Class A State Basketball Tournament in Pendleton. The coming of April meant only two more months of school, and the calendar was filled with things to do. Then it was May. Seniors graduated on May 26th with a roomful of questioning and hopeful people. The underclassmen slaved through semesters, and finally, on June 1, school was out. A year of learning. A year of memories. Each moment of that year was unique; it will never be repeated. It is the hope of the staff that a portion of those memories can be captured in the Memolog of 1972. 3
