CLASS HISTORY In Steptember 1953 we 53 shy students entered the doors of Vernon Hrgh School Th1rty three of us were from Vernon Townsh1p th1rteen from Sandcreek Townsh1p and seven from Btgger Townsh1p We were to start our hrgh school educatlon as green freshmen We chose Dorsey Davrs Prestdent Sue Armstrong V1ce Pres1dent Mary Ellen Schaeffer Secretary and Dons Dav1s Treasurer Our sponsor was Mrs Hyder Our candldates for carmvalK1ng and Queen were Dorsey Dav1s and Mary Ellen Schaeffer We had a wemer roast tlus year on the school grounds followed by a hayr1de thzs was our freshmen class party In September 1954 52 of us returned to V H S as Srlly sophomores Thls year our offtcers were Dorsey Davls Presldent Dor1s Davls V1ce Pres1dent Sue Armstrong Secretary and Jean Collett Treasurer Our sponsor was Mtss Lewls In September 1955 43 of us returned to Vernon H1gh School to start our Juruor year Tlus was a year f1lled w1th act1v1t1es that we shall never forget To begm w1th we chose Ronme Boyd Presrdent Dorsey Dav1s, Vtce Prestdent Sharon Lamb Secretary and Jean Collett Treasurer Our sponsor was M1ss Sample, To make money we sold concess1ons at the home ball games and presented our jumor play wluch was trtled Uncle Rube s Homestead The Jumor prom Moon hght and Roses' was very successful and we certamly enJoyed the pleasure and work of thrs un forgettable event. Larry Patr1ck and Judy Barlow re1gned over the prom as Kmg and Queen The Queen's court cons1sted of Janet G1lmore Sue Armstrong and Claudme Mclnure The Kmg s attendants were Joe Cook Leon Fa1r and Ronme Boyd In September 1956 42 d1gn.1f1ed seruors returned to Vernon I-hgh School for the1r fmal year of h1gh school educauon In this most lmportant year we elected John Challle Presrdent Carol Mclntlre V1ce Pres1dent Rebecca Brown Secretary andJ 1m F1sher Treasurer Rebecca Brown and J 1m F1sher graduated at the end of the f1rst semester then the class elected Frances Poer Secretary and Larry Scroggtns Treasurer for the rest of the year Mr Wells and Mrs D1ttman were our sponsors Th1s year we had our senlor play ntled Love IS Eternal Some of the members of the class pubhshed our school paper The Vernon Banner We also prepared and sold our annual Vernomtes of 56 57 Glenn McGu1re was our class valedrctonan, John Challle was salutatorlan and Sue Arm strong was class h1stor1an CLASS COLORS Lave.ndar and S11ver CLASS FLOWER.
