A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL Congratulations and best wishes to the class of 1955. We are thankful that this group was able to com- plete its High School program and earn the honor of being the first class to graduate from our magnificent new Junior and Senior High School. One short semester in entirely new quarters hardly seemed time enough for members of this class to make adjustments to different teachers, changing regulations and new routines, but each one did so in a magnificent manner. We sincerely feel that this Class will give a good account of itself after graduation. We expect each member to be a credit in whatever line of endeavor he or she chooses to enter, whether or not it be com- merce, industry or higher education. It has been a pleasure to work with this class. Its response and cooperation has been most gratifying. We thank you. We also wish to express our appreciation to the teachers and the entire student body for their whole- hearted cooperation in making a smooth transition from the old” buildings to the new school. We feel that this is only the beginning of a new and progres- sive era of education in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School. John B. Pilette, Principal 7 SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE The publication of this issue of the 1955 Yearbook marks the beginning of a new era in high school education in the WS School District. Much of what has been done in our high school in the past was conditioned by the physical set-up of the district. From now on we expect to study the high school cur- riculum and determine the best courses for high school students of VVS. Much adjustment is necessary on the part of stu- dents, faculty, and the community as a whole, in order to bring the high school program into focus. The educational program of the VVS District must be designed to fit the needs of the boys and girls of this community, and our new high school provides facili- ties for such a program. William T. Thomson, Superintendent March, 1955
