10 JUNIOR PILOT CLASS PROPHECY Thelma Shaver Gertrude Van Baasten At the reunion of the Class of T9 in Ver- non Center, the Capital of New York State, on June 26th. 1 959. we found Robert White, the Governor, seated at his desk. We asked him how things were progressing and he told us that Ruth Chandler is Secretary of Labor. Marion Rice is Secretary of Education. Eva Clute is his private secretary, and Eulalia Yaddow. Secretary of Finance Corporation. Me also told us that Roy Burleigh and Junior Palmer had established a coast to coast airline service with but one accident in which Robert Stewart, pilot, and Dorothy Peters. Stewar- dess. escaped with slight injuries. The park at the Capital is now famous due to the landscaping of Fred McDermott. Bill Amann and Alex Jones are on fur- lough from West Point where they are both Lieutenants. We also found out that Thelma Shaver is Secretary to the Mayor of Lairdsville and that Helen Houck is teaching first and second grades and Gertrude Van Baasten is teaching Kindergarten in the Lairdsville Memorial High School. The Buss brothers. David and Allen, and Raymond Pohl have built an Engineering and Diesel College and are doing very well. He also told us that Bill Decker. Conrad Mercier. Raymond Morgan, and Ross Guy are operating busses from the Capital to the State Fair in the neighboring city of Augusta Cen- ter. Julia Smith and Ethel Snider are head nurses at the Francese E. Sherwood Hospital in Vernon. As we left for a tour of the State Fair the Mayor asked us to come back again to find out about the Class of ‘39. WBgarsii Ward C.—When 1 dance with you 1 feel as if I were treading on clouds. Dot.—Don't fool yourself, those are my feet. M. Krug—Mother. I want to go to the zoo. Mother—What an idea, imagine wanting to go and see the monkeys when your Aunt Margaret’s here. Lurene Burton sent a letter to her folks from college asking for money—Pa got it. Mrs. Burton (sigh)—Do you really think college develops the mind? Mr. Burton—1 sure do. Who else but a college girl could think of so many ways to ask for money? Fred McDermott. Roy Burleigh. William Decker. Allen Buss. Raymond Pohl. Conrad Mercicr. David Buss. Robert Stewart. For four years most of us have been mem- bers of Vernon High School and now we are Seniors and looking forward to graduation. Last fall there were twenty-three of us that entered upon our Senior year. We elected the following officers: President. Dorothy Peters: Vice-President. Bill Amann: Secre- tary. Ross Guy: Treasurer. Helen Houck. Now in behalf of the Senior Class. 1 wish to thank Mrs. Sherwood who has been our class advisor since we were Freshmen and has proved to be very helpful. In our Freshman year we held the annual Frosh Frolic, which was a real success. We also held a frankfurt roast and a bake sale. In our Sophomore year we didn’t hold very many activities. During our Junior year we sold candy and magazines, at which we made a good profit, so we were very successful in publishing our Junior Annual. We wish the best of luck for the classes that follow.
