CLASS HISTORY Everything in the world that is worthy of mention or consideration has a history even in a class We the class of 1951, enrolled in the Vermontville High School in a care free and fr1ghtened manner as only Freshman can the one thing they were out Initiation suffer1ng but torments both There were many things for us to be worried about, but that frightened us most was the Sophomores We knew that to get us because we had heard about the WTradition of Their fierce taste for Freshman blood caused us great in the blessed name of education we were forced to suffer of body and m1nd Yet as we dwelt in this realm or learning, we soon became accustomed to the strangeness and each as one among the rest At our f1PSC class meeting with Mr Celina as our sponsor we lected officers Norma Stephenson was elected Presldent, Barbara Gorodenski, Vice President, Barbara Leslie, Secretary, and Ardyce Southern, Treasurer We had two big money mak1ng projects 1n our Freshmen year, namely, T Shlrt sales and a refreshment stand at the Basketball games In these we were quite successful Our Freshmen year had soon slipped by, Autumn found us the Sophomore class of l9b8 We now felt more courageous S1nC6 lt was our turn to grab the poor little Freshmen as they went through the halls We did feel sorry for them, but they in turn had to travel the path of in1t1ation At one of our first class meetlngs we elected class officers Richard Todd was elected President, Marcella West elected Vice President, Ardyce Southern, Secretary, and Barbara Gorodenski, Treasurer Since Mr Gellna was not to travel w1th us through our land of learn1ng, Mrs Crothers took over as our class sponsor where he left off, and has remained w1th us through the remalning years For some reason students fa1led to carry on as planned, in our Sophomore year we lost Phyllis Clark, Marlene Tilburt Bob Coulson, and Jim Faust But there was one additlon in the nuzzle too, namely Jim Hulburt Summer waned and the fall of l0L9 found us organlzlng ourselves, once more into the Junior class electlng Rlchard Todd President, Norma Stephenson, Vice President, Barbara Leslie Secretary, and Barbara Gorodensk1, Treasurer, Richard Todd and Ardyce Southern were chosen Student Councll Renresenatives Our first play entltled VBargain Briden was presented th1s year, it was a hilarious hlgh comedy in three acts Everyone on the cast enioyed nartlcioatlng but the h1ghlight of the evenlng was the 'bang up' party whlch was held at Joyce Thrun's, with some guy putting a happy ending to 1C all by dr1nk1np hair rinse by mistake As we gazed 1nto the crystal ball we found many thlngs of pleasure and money maklng schemes also, there before our eyes was uch thlngs as Magaz1ne sales, C1der Sale, Hay Rlde, Halloween Dance, JHHIOP Play, Jun1or Senlor Banquet, Stand at Festlval, and the h1phl1pht of t e year was the selectlon of our cl ss r ngs Th1s was another year for tklDUS to hwnpen lH the class, thls tlme there were four neonle declded they had all the educatlon they needed they were, Barbara Leslle, Georgia Crandall, Lora Wolever and Jim Hulburt There was one addltlon this year, Nathan Foltz who was badly needed to help keen the class moral un 1950 ushered in our long awa1ted Sen1or year, The offlcers were Richard Todd, President, Joan Moore, Vice President, Ardyce Southern Secretary, and Norma Stephenson, Treasurer There was one person left 1n the Senior class, namely Roger Wells who decided he could help his country on the fightlng side better than he could by crammlng out of musty school books But through some sort of miracle the odds were for the class this year, there were three additions, Beverly Zemke, Eldon Hosey, and Don Parmly -- , . - O I N O . . 1 C A U U . . 3 s 5 Q . .
