DRUM Leading the marching band and adding much to their appearance were the drum major, Shirley Stride, and Majorettes, I-one Teut.sch, Maxine Severson, Margaret Cronholz, and Mary Jane Lee. B A N D Vermillion High School band, under the direction of Ardeen Foss, has made several public appearances during 1943-44. They have been active in a number of school programs, Tanager Day, radio programs, a Christmas concert and several minor concerts. The formal concert was held in Slagle Auditorium, April 19. Yankton and Vermillion organized a festival to replace the music contests. The Festival was held in Vermillion on May Sth. The 'pep' band, small part of band, brought enthusiasm to the basket ball and football games and pep meetings. Several small instrumental groups have been formed including clari- net quartet, and the brass sextet. The officers of the band are: President, Bill Sangerg Vice-pres- ident, Marge Wagner: Secretary, Sally Artleyg Treasurer, Peg Bartong Student Director, Dale Nelsong Librarian, Arvard Bertrand: and Student Council representative, Tex Hoy.
