STUDENT COUNCIL Last spring the Student Body of V.U.H.S. elected the following officers for the school year 1961-1962: President, Albert White; Vice President, Audrey Fishman; Secretary, Claudia Allen and Treasurer, Jame Sullivan. In the fall, fourteen other members joined with them and advisors, Mr. Jipp and Mr. Codding. The Council has been kept busy by much activity. It was granted permission to hold an annual Sadie Hawkins Dance and it sponsored the Second Annual Vocations Conference which surrounding schools attended. School spirit and school appearance were projects worked upon all year and resulted in assemblies, the bulletin board, a new school song, a suggestion box and a small pep band. In November, Bert, Claudia, Betsey, Pennie, Nancy and Audrey attended the convention of the Vermont Association of Student Councils at the Otter Valley Union High School in Brandon. Claudia and Pennie led a buzz session and Audrey ran unsuccessfully for a state office. Many thoughts, much information, and ideas were exchanged while there. The V.U.H.S. Student Council felt very fortunate for the first time this year, to have been allowed to attend faculty or school board meetings if an important issue arose. The Council feels that this privilege will bind together more closely the students and their adult leaders.
