Music Council This council consists of twelve members from the various music classes. The members are: John Norton, Ruth Baldwin, David Aubin, Carolyn Thiess, Roger Jackson, Linda Quesnel, Donna Hunt, Mary Stebbins, Patricia Allen, Mary Jane January, Priscilla Cole, and Sandra Adams. This council is the governing body of the chorus. Its purpose is to promote interest in music within the student body; to plan and help organize special trips, concerts, ana other activities of the choral association. Officers are: Roger Jackson, President; Linda Quesnel, Vice-President; Pat Allen, Secretary; David Aubin, Treasurer. Ruth Baldwin is the Student Council Representative.

SPRING STEAD One hundred and thirty-five students make up the Chorus during the current year. On December fourteenth a Christmas Matinee - Living Portraits of the Nativity was presented to elementary students of the union school district. The following evening the public performance was given. Soloists for the evening were David Aubin, John Norton, Donald Peabody, Baritones; Thomas Tucker, Bass; Roger Jackson, Tenor; Elaine Barber, Soprano; Linda Carlisle, Mezzo-Soprano; Betsey Benton and Cheryl Larrow, Altos. Activities for the year included participation in the Champlain Valley Music Festival, a spring operetta, and an exchange concert for the choir.

Thiess, Beach, Cameron, Burpee, Holcomb, Thurber, Webster, Larrow. FOURTH ROW: Benton, Dan-yow, January, Lawya, J. Ryan, Barber, Young, Aubin, Baldwin, Anderson, Quesnel, Sanbor, Charlebois, McNulla, Jones. Sixty students chosen from the chorus compose the choir. A Girls’ Chorus and Boys' Chorus also supplement the work of the other two music groups. Members of the choir took part in the Christmas program. Its members were also active in the various music festivals. Elaine Barber, Donald Peabody, and Roger Jackson represented VUHS in the All Eastern Concert Chorus of the Music Educators National Conference in Washington, D. C., January 13-16, 1961. Mrs. Springstead, an executive board member of the Vermont Music Educators, was chairman of the Conference Breakfast for the Eastern Division of the National Organization, and acted as chaperon. In January, Carolyn Thiess, Connie Thurber, Alice Abare, June Adams, Dawn Barney, Gene Milo, Charles Rossier, Lynn Bottum, David Aubin, and Robert Ryan attended the Mount Royal Music Festival, Mount Royal, Quebec. In the spring, Margaret Howland, Eldora Jones, Ruth Baldwin, John Norton, Thomas Tucker, Edward Gebo, and Roger Jackson attended the annual All-State Music Festival in Burlington. As the book goes to press, consideration is being given to the choice of members for the New England Music Festival in Rutland, Vermont and to the establishment of an Honorary Music Chapter at VUHS.
