D.I.'s Rock VHS With Familiar Tunes Music plays a large part in the everyday happenings at Ven- tura High. A D.J. must be able to control the flow of the music that is listened to by the students, faculty, and adminis- tration before and during school. This year, a great number of D.J.'s tried out for the envied jobg each person playing a different style and tune. There was an abundance of Punk Rock and it's rival, funk. A D.J. must be able to take criticism as well as everyones point of view. He must be ready to change the style of music and suit it to everyones taste. Working as a KVHS disc jockey was one of the most enjoy- able activities I participated in this year. The music I played was mostly rock. It included such artists as The Who, the Bea- tles and Bruce Springsteen. Being in a position to choose the music that other students listen to can be a challenge, because you have to find out what other people want to hear instead of just what YOU want to play. This year I learned to keep an open mind to other people's musical tastes, even though I was sometimes subjected to criticism of my own personal prefer- ences! But all in all, it was a great year! - Wendy Strahm - 1 i A. I A. Frank Barrajas, Chris Real and Quinn Fenwick take time out of the broadcast to pose. B. Time to start the music. C. A sign that the late John Lennon will not be forgotten. D. Wendy Strahm adds a smile with her music. , . ' 1. . , W ,,t.,, ,,.... i C.
