Dancing, Music Pla ed a Large Part Dancing not only was a favorite pastime of VHS students this year but it made Mondays easier to face, to know a dance was right around the corner. There were varieties of dances ranging from semi-formal such as Homecom- ing to casual after-game dances, from unique dances like the Toga-Punk rock dance to the more traditional Backwards dance. Each dance held its own not only with dress, but with music offering different types to suit the wide span of VHS students tastes. This was a historic year in rock music, marked by the death of John Len- non and John Bonham. Musical preferences were varied. In the mellow strain, Chris Cross and Kenny Logins prevailed. Those liking harder sounds were into AC! DC and Van Halen, whereas the rock sounds were Pat Bena- tar and Supertramp. A few of the New Wave party groups were the Police and Elvis Costello. As always, music played a large part in the social scene at VHS. A. 22 X Dancing B. A. When the music starts it's time to hit the floor. B.
