Three years of challenges, good times, and rela- tionships are all a part of the course we'll take on our journey through time. One of the most important experiences in high school is the building of relationships, and the chance to watch them grow stronger and closer. The good times we spend with friends, whether it be having fun at a game or party, or just sit- ting and talking, will help us to become more sensitive in our rel- ationships with others. How often when we've felt down - after failing a test of having an argument with our parents - has a friend been there to listen, give an encouraging smile, and lift our spirits? Sometimes the relationships are taken advantage of. But on the most part, students agree that without these friendships there would be no spark of interest in school, and happiness would just fade away. ' As one senior commented, '5It's funny when I look back and remember how afraid of high school I was. I was so sure I wouldn't have any friends, and that lid be spending my time in the library, trying to look like a brain, rather than a loner. As my three years come to a close, I can reflect on so many close and valuable friendships, that I wouldnlt trade for anything! The casual friendliness that V.H.S. is known for makes com- munication with teachers, as well as our peers, much simpler. To reach out and care - to really try and communicate with each other - will not only benefit us now, but it will help us mature and understand ourselves, as well as others in the future. Making Our Own Way. We wanted to become a part ofthe events and traditions of Ventura High School. As entering sophomores, we found every day filled with a variety of challengesg as juniors the unique campus atmosphere encouraged us to get involved and as seniors we earned the freedom to reflect on all that we accom- plished. In the course of cementing the foundation of learning, the fun of lunch time competition, the glamour of homecoming, the thrill of winning, and the agony of losing, will be tucked in our memo- ries forever.
