Throughout the season the Pirates showed ampie spirit and tight, but were greatiy iacking in height and reserve power, which severai wins. When the annuai Ati-Western Conter- ence ,iunior Coiiege basketbaii team seiec- tions tor i938 were reieased, Ventura's Pirate squad did not rate any tirst stringers, but it had two men, idaroid Gragg, forward, and Eiisworth Suytar, center, on the second team. This has been the Poeteers' most active year, Among their noteworthy achievements were. Pt trip to the Pasadena Ptayhouse to see Pride and i5i'eiudice, entry into the First the Biaden contest, receiving pointers on poeteering trom Mrs, Chariotte Diinshee, and the pubiishing ot a book ot poems written by members ot the ciub. Otticers arc: Ftcten Cariiste president, Ruth Myers, vice-president, Roberta Neher, secretary-treasurer Ada Chambers, program chairman, and Etaine Danicis, adviser. Adviser Gaby Wiison gave new impetus to the activities ot the French Ciisib this year.
