llllillllllllli Tl Activities of the Buccaneers this year were planned to serve as a basis for a better organiza- tion of Ventura Junior College men. Several years ago this organization was one of the most important clubs on the campus but during recent years it had become almost inactive. Tom Myers, Captain of tha group, and his able cabinet have provided the As- sociated Student Body with two enjoyable assem- blies and a memorable dance Bill Spaulding, head JM Nl Yli RS, lhiuuniicei' president V N, ,' .fjv-,j 'z .' ii football coach at the University ot California at Los Angeles, was the guest speaker at the annual father and son banquet, sponsored by the Buccaneers. Catherine King, president of the Associated Women Students, announced at the beginning of the year that her program of activities was com- pletely outlined. She prepared a busy year and made it so outstanding that it will be an inspiration to those leaders who come after her. The first social event was a tea given for the faculty women on October seventh Five assemblies throughout the year followed this event. In Novem- ber, fall fashions were shown by AWS mannequins. immediately following the show, seven members of the cabinet attended the annual convention of lx k,XIHl',RIXl-, RIN!-. .L H. 5. prusnlunt junior college women in Pasadena. This proved to be an unforgettable occasion for the members. An innovation in student life was a date bureau, sponsored by the AWS, for the Backward Dance in November. lt was a very successful venture. Another new service originated by the club was the small Ioan fund to aid forgetful girls, The climax of the year was the fathers and daughters' banquet which was so beautifully presented Janu- ary thirteenth at the Masonic Temple.
