Cross Country Has a Season of Rebuilding The 1979 Cross Country Season was one of rebuilding. There were six new members who progressed meas- urably during the season. Of these, senior Ed Dinka and sophomore Kirby Outerbridge proved to be assets for Venice. Ed led the Venice runners in many meets and Kirby was always close behind. The girls ' team was short two run- ners, juniors Patty Reed and Claudia Gallegos | oined the team to fulfill the need for five members. Coach Charlie Powell and manager Judy Parsons along with every cross country runner put in many hours of hard work practicing and preparing for meets. These long hours paid off when the Venice boys won the county meet. At the end of the season the win-loss record was 83-29. All these runners should be admired for their hard work and determination.
