Sayonara On May 3, 1958, the Junior-Senior Prom was held in the new school gym. The gym was beautifully decorated in lanterns and other Japanese ornaments. At the entrance of the gym there was abridge which had cherry blossoms covering it. The decorations carried out the theme, Sayonara. Entertainment for the evening was furnished by a dance group from an East St. Louis dancing school. Mrs. Judy Chaflin Saper sang the theme song, Sayonara. A highlight of the evening was the crowning of the prom Queen and King, Miss Jessie Lou Mitchell and Lawrence Heagy. The queen and king were elected by secret ballot by the juniors and seniors, a week before the prom. Dancing to the music of Eddie Johnisee. 2,-
