With enthusiasm and energy, the cheerleaders encouraged a lively school spirit. Both the Varsity and IV squads attended a cheerleading camp in Kittanning and practiced weekly during the summer to perfect their routines. Male cheerleaders added an interesting new note to sideline cheering at some of the games. Mrs. lohn Delserone coached the cheerleaders. Marlene Siebert headed the Varsity squad and Susie Schiffer captained the lV's. 13

Carol Weidle was crowned in the last Homecoming event. The entire week of Homecoming was busy and eventful, even during the regular school day. Each day was designed for a display of specific wearing apparel, for example, one day was for buttons and bows and one for rings and things. The most hilarious one was Shocks Day ttranslated: Shoes and Socks Day.l Friday night featured the dance, in which the Homecoming court participated, Music was provided by Frozen Gold . A buffet-style dinner for the alumni was sponsored by the National Honor Society, This took place before the game on Saturday night against Cambridge Springs. lt was during half-time that football co-captains Dan Lillard and Tom O'Connor crowned Carol Weidle Homecoming Queen. Barb Dre-lick registers Kathy Duda for the NHS alumni , buffet.
